Telfexo-M Tablet is a combination of two drugs, namely Montelukast (leukotriene receptor antagonist) and Fexofenadine (antihistamine). Leukotrienes are chemical mediators that are released by Mast cells and eosinophil causing inflammation (swelling) of the bronchial smooth muscles and thereby causing bronchoconstriction. Montelukast belongs to the class of leukotriene receptor antagonists that works by blocking the action of Leukotrienes by stopping its release from mast cells and eosinophils and also by blocking the specific leukotriene receptors on bronchial tissues which reduces inflammation, mucus production and narrowing of the bronchial airways. Fexofenadine belongs to the class of antihistamines (anti-allergic drugs) that works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance responsible for causing allergic reactions. It helps to provide relief from symptoms of allergy such as sneezing, running nose, watery eyes, itching, swelling, and congestion or stiffness.
